  • ‚ÄčCounselor in Training (CIT) The CIT program is a three-week program designed to train those who are ready to take on new challenges, opportunities and responsibilities at camp. CITs have “on the job” training and work with campers by assisting staff with camper care, facilitating activity areas, and evening programs. CITs have additional responsibilities throughout camp including, but not limited to, service projects, Dining Hall, and logistical/operational initiatives. This unique opportunity provides young adults with the chance to develop their personal leadership style, and practice good communication, problem solving, critical thinking, and gain valuable professional development that will help them succeed at CSL, in school, and in any workplace.
  • CITs are rising 12th graders. CITs are participants in the CSL program, and there is a cost for participating.

*We are currently updating our Operating Playbook for summer 2022. Here are is our current COVID-19 Policy:

The health, safety and security of all our campers and staff is the utmost important to us, and we are updating our procedures and protocols annually to keep abreast of current trends and concerns. Even with COVID-19 cases declining after the most recent omicron wave, we are still preparing responsibly for the summer of 2022. None of us know exactly what the next few months will look like, and we will continue to regularly consult with medical professionals and infectious disease and industry experts, including, NYS and Yates County Departments of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and American Camp Association (ACA).

With a focus on the Jewish value of Pikuach Nefesh (sanctity of life), Camp Seneca Lake is requiring* all members of the camp community to be up to date with COVID-19 immunizations prior to attending camp this summer. Per CDC, “up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible.”

While we aspire towards a return to normal, we expect some COVID-19 protocols to be present this summer, which may include:
  • Testing prior to, on arrival, and/or during the camp session
  • Updated health center and screening procedures, including additional medical staff
  • Securing additional PPE, medications, and medical equipment
  • Masking indoors or in large congregate settings
  • Enhanced cleaning procedures
  • Reserving space at camp to allow for additional isolation facilities, if needed
These protocols, changes and improvements have created substantial costs and on-going expenses for us. As a result, we are instituting a one-time supplemental fee of $150 per camper (regardless of the number of weeks a camper attends) to cover these additional costs.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to having your camper joining us at camp this summer!

*Medical Exemption Statement: Staff and children are exempt from immunization requirements only if a parent or guardian submits a written statement from a licensed physician (M.D. or D.O.) which states:
  • That the physical condition or medical circumstances of the child are such that the required immunization(s) is not indicated
  • Which vaccines are being exempted
  • Whether the medical exemption is permanent or temporary
  • The expiration date, if the exemption is temporary
